DISCASHIER Project: design for all arrives at the supermarket
It was aimed, in collaboration with ALIMERKA, to the development of a supermarket cash register adapted to people with motor disabilities (wheelchair users), specially focused on the workers needs (due to the length of their working day) but also on the clients’.
The main innovation with respect to other initiatives launched so far is that the worker doesn't need to adapt to the workstation (for example, using an elevator platform), and it is considered the accessibility and physical ergonomics from the customer's point of view.
As a result of this project, a functional prototype has been developed and it was evaluated and validated for an ALIMERKA worker with limited mobility.
